The Author is the idea generator; he creates the idea to be translated into a publication. An Author can be an individual or an author in legal sense and in contract relations with the publisher, may be a group, an institution or even a government.

The author is the first owner of right to publish a work created and may choose to sell or lease the right of publishing.

The author’s right is protected by the copyright laws. He reads proof after the editor has proofread to make sure his message is not totally changed and if the printer has produced the ‘work’ is in the most effective and accurate manner.

He may also help the publisher in advertising and promoting the work; he may wholly or jointly help in financing the publishing project.
